Zweyter Abschnitt
also daß diese Formeln a + z und a - z Quadrate
werden sollten.

Nun setze man a + z = xx und a - z = yy, so wird
erstlich 2a = 2 (cc + dd) = xx + yy, und hernach 2z = xx
-- yy
. Es müßen also die Quadrate xx und yy so be-
schaffeu seyn, daß xx + yy = 2 (cc + dd), wo 2(cc + dd)
auch eine Summe von zwey Quadraten ist, nem-
lich (c + d)2 + (c - d)2. Man setze Kürtze halber c + d = f und
c - d = g: also daß seyn muß xx + yy = ff + gg, dieses ge-
schieht aber aus dem obigen, wann man nimmt
x = und y = , hieraus be-
kommt man die leichteste Auflösung, wann man nimmt
p = 1 und q = 1, dann daraus wird x = = g = c - d und
y = f = c + d, und hieraus folglich z = 2 c d. Hieraus
wird nun offenbar cc + dd + 2cd = (c + d)2 und cc + dd
-- 2 c d = (c - d)2
. Um eine andere Auflösung zu
finden, so sey p = 2 und q = 1, da wird x = , und
y = , wo so wohl c und d, als x und y negativ
genommen werden können, weil nur ihre Quadrate vor-
kommen. Da nun x größer seyn soll als y, so nehme man
d negativ, und da wird x = und y = . Hieraus
folgt z = , welcher Werth zu a = cc + dd

Zweyter Abſchnitt
alſo daß dieſe Formeln a + z und a - z Quadrate

Nun ſetze man a + z = xx und a - z = yy, ſo wird
erſtlich 2a = 2 (cc + dd) = xx + yy, und hernach 2z = xx
