2) Viergliedriges System.

Wenn die Zeichen so gewählt sind, daß die quadra-
tische Säule MM in der Primitivform unserer zweiten
quadratischen Säule entspricht, wie z. B. Dufrenoy beim
Vesuvian angenommen hat, so stimmt die Auslegung des
Zeichens mit den Axen. Correspondirt dagegen M/M der
zweiten Säule, wie z. B. beim Zirkon, dann muß der
Kantenzonensatz zu Hilfe genommen werden.

3) Zweigliedriges System.

Wenn die Oblongsäule mit Gradendfläche PMT die
Primitivform ist, so stimmen die Zeichen mit unsern Axen.
Wenn dagegen die beistehende gerade rhombische Säule
MMP den Ausgang bildet, so muß man, wie im zweiten
Fall des viergliedrigen Systems, das Kantenzonengesetz
zur Bestimmung der Axen zu Hilfe nehmen.
