excelsa, Magnoliaceen: Drimys axillaris; Leiospermum (Weinmannia)
racemosum bildet grosse Wälder, dazu Myrtus und Metrosideros,
merkwürdige hohe Araliaceen; Baumfarne: Cyathea dealbata am
Rande der Gletscher. Die Blumen der Stauden und Halbsträucher
zeigen im allgemeinen grünliche Farbe und sind nicht auffällig;
doch sind die daran geknüpften Schlussfolgerungen biologischer
Art jedenfalls übertrieben (siehe Abschn. 5, S. 228).
